WGBH – UPBEAT FOR JAZZ
Jazz has always been a top priority for 89.9 WGBH, Boston’s NPR Station for News & Culture, and now that the prize-winning radio and television station has a sparkling new headquarters in Boston’s Brighton neighborhood, the future of jazz looks even stronger.
Steve Charbonneau, assistant programming director for the radio station, says the state-of-the art studios and sound equipment makes an in-studio performance as acoustically brilliant as some of the best concert halls, and also ideal for gatherings of music lovers to hear their favorite performers in an intimate setting. Coming up this season, legendary jazz host Eric Jackson is teaming up with fellow jazz host and producer Steve Schwarz to welcome several live performances in the studio.
On Tuesday, September 28 vocalist Mili Bermejo’s live performance is also a CD release party for her important new work, Love Songs of the Americas, recorded by Antonio Oliart.
On Tuesday, October 26 saxophonist Greg Abate comes to the WGBH studios for a night of powerhouse sax playing.
